When you cook food, you are able to create something from nothing. You start with all of these ingredients that don’t taste well by themselves. Then, when combining all of the ingredients, you are able to create something tasty, and something that you will be able to enjoy. Cooking is often defined as a chemical equation because you put different ingredients into the “equation”, and then you get a completely different product as your outcome. It is a chemical equation because you can never get back those original ingredients. The ingredients were used to create the food you just made.

When cooking, you have free range to make anything that you want. The sky's the limit in the kitchen. You could make a sweet or savory dish, spicy or minty, bland or bold, or anything in between. Within the kitchen, you are able to find your specialty because there are so many different foods that you can make. Some better at making desserts, some are more skilled at savory dishes, and some are even more advanced using vegetables.
In my photo, the subject is cooking a desert in the kitchen. Her station is a little messy because, in reality, no one's kitchen is ever clean while cooking. In addition, she is wearing an apron to signify that the food she is making can be messy; which it usually is. Lastly, the subject is using exact measurements to try and get the best outcome of her dessert.
