Reading a book has the ability to bring people to another place; to take people from their normal lives into an alternate reality.  Some people after a long stressful day look for ways to escape their stressful lives, and reading always finds a way to fit into peoples normal day routine. In most books, there are no pictures, their set way of interpreting the story; the book is up for your interpretation, and is created through your ideas and imagination.  When people are drawn into books, the story they are reading about becomes their reality.  The life they are currently living no longer exists, and they become totally engulfed in their new reality; the story.

In order to represent this reality shift in my photograph, I chose to bring ideas from a story into the life of the person reading it.  I chose book “Harry Potter” because of the iconic scar that Harry has on his face.  The scar on Harry’s face is not just a physical sign of the struggles Harry encounters throughout the series, but it is also emotionally symbolic and shows his growth throughout the series.  Because the scar is symbolic throughout the entire series, the scar was placed on the boy reading the book’s face to show that the book is starting to take over his normal life.  Harry Potter’s reality is starting to become the reality of the boy reading it because the reader is escaping into this alternate reality.
