Artist Statement

 

Most children grow up with big dreams. Whether it is their dream job, a dream house, or a dream family, we all grow up aspired to achieve everything we want. One of the recurring ideals that people typically strive for is the success.  Our country has thrived on the idea of the American Dream, and that is also something that I strive for later in my life. I want to be successful and have a happy and healthy family.

 

 

I took this photograph on top of the World Trade Center facing Wall Street.  Wall Street is known as the financial district which symbolizes money, and success to me.  New York is also a symbol of endless opportunities.   By having a young boy look down upon Wall Street, it symbolizes his passion, and fascination with the success of people in New York. By having the boys hands touching the window, it shows that the boy loves what he is looking at.

 

By having the boy much higher than the rest of the city, it also shows the extent of success that the boy desires. The top of the building literally also symbolizes reaching the top figuratively.  The boy has high hopes for his future and believes that he can strive to the top of his company or any career path that he takes.
